It is so stupid and crazy how normalized the wage gap is. I just sat next to someone that had a bag of clothes worth as much as my yearly salary. No not spending money i am talking salary. They spend that in a day and had the bag just casually standing next to me. I dont earn little which makes this 10 times worse. I dont like how normal this is. During the Revolution in france the wage gap was way way smaller btw Eat the rich pls :3 Lets normalize hating te rich. @virtuous_sloth@cosocial.ca I'd say that the essential elements of #capitalism are private property, free exchange, contracts and competition — money, corporations, banks, stocks, bonds, etc. are useful but non-essential; versions of capitalism have existed in societies without them. (I normally refer to free markets, rather than capitalism, but if I'd said @evan@cosocial.ca was thinking like a free marketeer, that wouldn't have gotten the idea across.)

BAD CULTURE You may be familiar with the notion of judging someone by how much work they do and by whether they have a job or not. Are you aware that this is by no means a universal human definition of human value? It is in fact part of the toxic culture of capitalism. In past times and places no one was judged by their job because, before capitalism, the very idea of "the job" had not yet been invented. Likewise, in previous ages "work" was more likely to have been done by slaves. It was not a badge of honour but indicative of the fact you had been coerced. "The job" itself was invented by early capitalists to get people into their factories so they (but not the workers) could become rich. These capitalists slowly built a whole culture built on the idea that having a job was a matter of status. But that was just self-serving bullshit. @primonatura@mstdn.social This reminds me of the #TMSR project by the genius Alvin Weinberg, that was scrapped for Uranium reactos that produced weapons grade plutonium easier. Clearly favoring mass murder is counterintuitive, but still profitable in #Capitalism. It's also clear that there's more room for #DemocraticSocialism, everyday.
