So apparently teachers, nurses and renters have to tighten their belts, but multinational gas giants get our resources on clearance sale.
Norway built a $2 trillion sovereign wealth fund. We got “stable business settings” for Shell and Chevron.
And remember, 16 years ago Kevin Rudd tried to introduce a proper mining resources tax. The mining lobby spent millions torching him and Australia is still paying the price.
Funny how there’s always money for corporate subsidies, tax loopholes and endless population growth, but never enough for housing, Medicare or universities.
