Trump’s war on Iran is driving up bills again. But governments don’t have to choose between war profits and people’s lives. Here are 4 ways to protect households and speed up a just transition https://act.gp/3QKVdFL #oil #gas #war #solar #renewables #rent #transport #food

This robot installs 80 panels/hour. One every 45 sec. 1,920/day ≈ 0.0008 GW/day per line. Sounds small. It’s not. Scale this across thousands of lines and #solar becomes manufacturing, not construction. 👉 10,000 lines = 8 GW/day. That’s HOW China is winning the energy game.

I'm bloody sick of people talking about the cost of cutting CO2 emissions. According to them I'm poorer for having spent a fortune on an early EV back in the day. I was a dupe for buying solar 12 years ago. Sure its cheaper now but I've had 10 years without buying fuel and 12 without energy bills. For the car that's no engine repairs, no servicing, no stink or noise. Sure it was expensive to buy and for the price I could have had a brand new Maserati. Imagine how much that would have cost in fuel and repairs! For the electricity no power bills, lines charges or unexpected power outages. Best of all, it all still works and my transport and electricity costs aren't going up with the fallout of this stupid Israel-US-Iran war. Making the same decision to go solar & EV now is so obviously the right decision financially that to even stop to question it is laughable, regardless on your thoughts on climate change. We (society) can make this change right bloody now if our leaders get behind it. We can insulate ourselves from dependency on sketchy, expensive fuel supplies. We can stop pushing CO2 into the world every time we nip down the shops. We can do away with the fumes. We can have abundant, FREE energy more or less for life if we invest in this infrastructure. Instead we're building a terminal to bring in more fuel for the metaphorical broken Maserati that is our energy system. Gah. #Abundance #ShortSightedLeaders #ClimateChange #EV #Solar

A solar power system, strawbale cob construction, greenhouse enthusiasms and the Southern Minnesota climate get you something like this. We are mostly off grid #Minnesota, #zone4b, #solar

Do you have an example of stealth solar? I've been thinking a lot about 'stealth solar' where people attach #solarpanels to places in a subtle way to capture the sun's energy. It might be stealth as there are strict rules or just want to keep it low key. #balconysolar is sort of stealth gone mainstream. With cheaper MPPT devices you can now accept slightly poorer efficiency due to placement and with microinverters don't need to make long strings. I particularly think that there is no point having a solar panel in storage, best get it out there and generating even if it's in a temporary place! So I thought I'd start a small website that documents different stealth setups, so if you have cheeky solar panels and would be willing to share a little info (but not too much if it would get you in trouble) get in touch. #stealth #solar #solarpunk #balkonsolar #hiddensolar

According to my home L2 charger's app, I've been using a bit under $30/month worth of electricity to charge my #EV. We have a 22-panel #solar array on our house that offsets around 54% of our combined electricity needs. So, while the Trump economy objectively sucks, it currently sucks less for us than it does for a lot of people.

Speaking of electricity Say I have spare 500€ and I want: backup power for blackouts: ~4h @ 100w, 300ish peakoptionally <100ms switch time smart charging: charge during off peak, feed from battery during the day, but keep 4h worth of charge as backupsmart charging can be controlled by not a vendor software (reversed api/ble protocol or something)obtainable SOC, power in/out metering via software400-500w solar input. I have 5-6h of sunlit balcony, but it’s tiny and it’s kinda a gray regulation wiseit absolutely must not be able to feed back to the grid or I will have to go trough “prosumer” licensingEU delivery, preferably DEbe quiet under 100-150w load I’ve seen a lot of 1kWh #solar charging stations that more or less what I want, but it seems like smart part is cloud gated to supported countries, which my for sure is not

Twenty-eight point six kllerwatt hours generated today. Once again, don't let the wieners tell you that #solar panels don’t work when you go north. ☀️ :D

#solar #PV I need to make a call on buying a battery for our solar system, but I don’t know what info is important and how to size it — it’s quite an expensive decision. Anybody got some advice or useful links 🔗 ?

Decided to recreate the energy graph that #Enphase provide in their app in #HomeAssistant, not sure why I waited 18 months to do this. Took me a couple of attempts to set up the helpers correctly and ensure consumption was always negative. Example from yesterday looks rather good, might make the numbers above the graph daily totals instead of 15 minutes averages 📈 #solar

35 years ago, when I came here, there was no electricity on site so I saved up the equivalent of a month's wages to buy a tiny 45W solar panel. Now after years of relying on the grid, I have finally managed to install a decent PV system. 4KW of panels. a 6KW inverter, and 10KWh of storage - and all for a cost comparable to what I spent all those years ago for that single 45W panel. Very happy to be finally self sufficient in electricity. #solar #solarpower #pv #italy

I was asleep at the switch when this came out a few days ago. It is *very* worth reading what @pluralistic@mamot.fr has to say. What Trump is doing is horrendous but some things might *inadvertently* change in a positive way - more quickly - because he's doing them. https://pluralistic.net/2026/04/20/praxis/#acceleration #trump #EnergyTransition #solar #renewables

How South Korea plans to use the Iran crisis to spur a renewables revolution

In Guyang-ri, a farming village of 70 households about 90 minutes south-east of Seoul, people gather for communal free lunches six days a week. The meals are funded by the village’s one-megawatt solar installation, which generates roughly 10m won ($6,800) in net profit each month. “Residents eat lunch together every day, so we see each other’s faces, talk together,” says Jeon Joo-young, the village chief. “Bonds and solidarity between residents become much stronger. Life becomes more enjoyable.”

Critics claim large solar farms are a public health threat. Despite little reputable evidence for this, their fears have helped undercut efforts across the U.S. to broaden energy sources, slowing installations even as customer costs are rising. https://www.propublica.org/article/michigan-solar-farms-health-concerns-st-clair-county?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=mastodon-post #News #Solar #Energy #Health #Michigan #Local #Law #PublicHealth
