I'm bloody sick of people talking about the cost of cutting CO2 emissions. According to them I'm poorer for having spent a fortune on an early EV back in the day. I was a dupe for buying solar 12 years ago. Sure its cheaper now but I've had 10 years without buying fuel and 12 without energy bills.
For the car that's no engine repairs, no servicing, no stink or noise. Sure it was expensive to buy and for the price I could have had a brand new Maserati. Imagine how much that would have cost in fuel and repairs! For the electricity no power bills, lines charges or unexpected power outages.
Best of all, it all still works and my transport and electricity costs aren't going up with the fallout of this stupid Israel-US-Iran war.
Making the same decision to go solar & EV now is so obviously the right decision financially that to even stop to question it is laughable, regardless on your thoughts on climate change.
We (society) can make this change right bloody now if our leaders get behind it. We can insulate ourselves from dependency on sketchy, expensive fuel supplies. We can stop pushing CO2 into the world every time we nip down the shops. We can do away with the fumes. We can have abundant, FREE energy more or less for life if we invest in this infrastructure.
Instead we're building a terminal to bring in more fuel for the metaphorical broken Maserati that is our energy system. Gah.
