Last night's 'it's 1am and I can't sleep' watch was 'Send Help', which I overall enjoyed, even if it didn't go as hard and over-the-top as I had hoped. But regardless, it's good seeing Sam Raimi back to his horror element after 17 whole years. 🔗 https://www.fringemagnet.net/2026/05/recent-watch-send-help-2026.html #SendHelp #Movies #Cinemastodon #FIlmMastodon #horror #Review #CatsOfMastodon #cats #Cat #floof

I was excited to find out today that my paper 'The Thing on the Doorstep: beyond gender in HP Lovecraft’s tale and its monstrous offspring' has been accepted for the Romancing the Gothic conference in August. It's going to be a lot of fun to deliver. #academic #horror #queer

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Release date: 1974-10-11 Five friends head out to rural Texas to visit the grave of a grandfather. On the way, they stumble across what appears to be a deserted house, only to discover something sinister within. My #bookreview is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, and spectacular #horror #books far and wide. Illuminating, concise, and chock-full of fascinating details— with images of pages and ephemera pulled from King's personal archives— this book provides a truly unique and one-of-a-kind window into the Writing World and Words of Stephen King. An absolute joy for any Constant Reader. (Hogarth) #book #review #bookstodon #StephenKing @bookstodon@fedigroups.social #mothersuspiriareview #MSReview @bookstodon@toot.community

Did you watch Silver Bullet for #Monsterdon tonight? Not the worst Stephen King adaptation... For me one of the worst is the 90s TV mini-series "The Langoliers" Which is why it is so great that the re-work "Timekeepers of Eternity" by Aristotelis Maragkos exists https://vimeo.com/866783910 it uses the tv series as source material, edited and printed then re-animated into a great 62 minute long film Well worth checking out #Horror #StephenKing #Langoliers #FanEdit #ReWork #RePurposedFilm #Film #Monsters #Animation

Whoops, took a nap and now there's only 20 minutes until #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party! If you want to avoid it, best set up a hashtag filter. If you want to join in, this week we're watching Stephen King's SILVER BULLET (1985), with blackjack and werewolves! Tubi crapped the bed for this one, but there's a Pluto link over here where you can stream the film: https://pluto.tv/us/on-demand/movies/5955aba5491f7ff12f598ce0 Or there's an Archive.org download: https://archive.org/details/silver-bullet-1985_202511 Just hit play at the top of the hour and toot along! See you there! #Movies #cinema #cinemastodon #horror #scifi

BLOG POST: How I wrote 'The Presence Chamber', the sixth story in my new collection of weird stories. It includes an admission that I thought Andy Partridge might have invented Nonsuch Palace as one of his clever little bits. https://precastreinforced.co.uk/2026/05/03/6-the-presence-chamber-thin-places-in-hard-concrete-story-by-story/ #history #horror

I love horror movies. But there are so many horror movies I have never seen because they just don't come to Finland and I can't stand watching them from a small screen (I was born in the 90's, it is TV, or movie theatre, or nothing experience for me) so paying for VPN to get Shudder is out. We also can't link a laptop to TV since both of those are old and laggy. Man I wish country locked media didn't exist... There is so much stuff out there just, existing! #horror #movies #fomo
