❗️Spain urges EU to shield ICC, UN as Gaza genocide continues
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on the European Commission on 6 May to activate the Anti-Coercion Instrument to protect the independence of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the UN, as well as their efforts to end the genocide in Gaza.
“We ask the Commission to activate the Anti-Coercion Instrument, to protect the independence of the International Criminal Court and the United Nations, and their actions to end the genocide in Gaza,” Sanchez said on X.
Sanchez said Spain would “not look the other way,” warning that punitive measures against those who defend international justice threaten the wider human rights system.
The Spanish premier added that the EU cannot remain a bystander “in the face of this persecution,” calling for a bloc-wide response to pressure targeting international legal bodies.

Não concordo com uma cultura moldada por algoritmos. E é isso que a maioria das redes sociais mainstream se tornou. Por isso, saí de lugares como Facebook, Twitter e cá estou. Sigo mais conversas do que pessoas.

Um amigo me mandou há pouco notícia de que a União Europeia determinou que todos os smartphones deverão ter baterias removíveis (salvo engano).
Pelo que vi, é algo que já vem sendo noticiado desde 2023, mas não estava por dentro.
Como entusiasta de pilhas recarregáveis e da troca rápida de bateria, me animei com a notícia. Simplesmente, não faz sentido para mim que um aparelho portátil fique "preso" a cabos, carregadores, powerbanks e afins.

W ramach ważnego kroku na rzecz otwartej nauki CERN został wybrany na gospodarza nowego etapu inicjatywy Open Research Europe (ORE), wspieranej przez Komisję Europejską oraz nowe konsorcjum finansujące, w skład którego wchodzą europejskie krajowe agencje finansujące i organizacje badawcze. Inicjatywa ta, zgodna z planem działania na rzecz otwartego dostępu typu „Diamond” (2022) [1], stanowi kierowaną przez społeczność alternatywę dla tradycyjnego publikowania naukowego. Kiedy nowa platforma ORE zostanie uruchomiona jeszcze w tym roku, uprawnienia autorskie zostaną rozszerzone o naukowców powiązanych z instytucjami w krajach uczestniczących w konsorcjum. Publikowanie pozostanie całkowicie bezpłatne zarówno dla naukowców finansowanych przez Komisję Europejską, jak i autorów z krajów uczestniczących. Celem jest promowanie równości, różnorodności i przejrzystości w komunikacji naukowej przy zachowaniu wysokich standardów jakości i rzetelności.
Konsorcjum finansujące ORE składa się obecnie z członków z Austrii, Francji, Niemiec, Włoch, Holandii, Norwegii, Portugalii, Słowenii, Hiszpanii, Szwecji i Szwajcarii [2]. Komisja Europejska uczestniczy w pracach organu zarządzającego jako stały obserwator i zapewnia dedykowane wsparcie finansowe. CERN zapewni infrastrukturę techniczną i operacyjną platformy, opartą na oprogramowaniu open source Open Journal Systems (OJS), natomiast zarządzanie i nadzór redakcyjny pozostaną w gestii konsorcjum ORE."
