"A new class action lawsuit accuses OpenAI of sharing data including user chat queries and personal identifying information like emails and user IDs with the tech giants — and targeted advertising behemoths — Meta and Google, without obtaining proper user consent. Filed yesterday in California, the lawsuit claims that OpenAI’s data-sharing with Google and Meta violates the California Invasion of Privacy Act, known as CIPA, as well as the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. It points specifically to OpenAI’s integrations with Meta Pixel and Google Analytics, which are data-tracking and collection tools that facilitate targeted advertisements. The data-tracking model described in the lawsuit — often referred to as “surveillance capitalism” — is the business that the modern internet is built on today. And OpenAI, like countless other tech companies, does include language in its privacy policy noting that it does collect, store, and share a range of consumer inputs and personal information." https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/openai-personal-information-meta-google #AI #GenerativeAI #OpenAI #Surveillance #Meta #Google #DataProtection #Privacy

The most challenging part of giving up #surveillance tech (so far) was giving up Spotify. My ADHD comes with a constant, annoying, loud earworms, and often the only thing that can help is listening to the song playing in my head. But when I saw that Spotify was asking user for #ageverification, I canceled my 10+ year sub. You know who I am, you have my credit card info! After months of "detoxing", I have figured out how to live w/o music streaming. I can live without your service, too. Try me.

"It’s been months since the UK government began requiring stronger age checks under the Online Safety Act, and recent research suggests those measures are falling short of keeping kids away from harmful content. In some cases, even drawing on a mustache has been reported as enough to fool age detection software." #AgeVerification #surveillance https://www.theregister.com/2026/05/04/uk_online_safety_act_age_checks_subvert/

First time seeing a “NO META GLASSES” sign in the door of a shop! I’m not surprised… and I expect we might see more of these kind of things in the years ahead. #Meta #MetaGlasses #AR #privacy #surveillance #Vermont

#Palantir #Surveillance #DigitaleSelbstbestimmung #Datenschutz

Palantir tracks everyone. So I built a site that tracks Palantir. They've been watching us. Now we can watch them. Contracts. Lawsuits. Executive pay. Global footprint. Lobbying activity. Media strategies. All in one place. ›› https://palantirwatch.org #privacy #technology #surveillance #bigtech

"greece to ban anonymity on social media". more like "greece to idiotically join france in having daily data breaches because their government is not able to connect the dots and doesn't understand current events" https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/s/HpnI2f91nh #surveillance #socialmedia #EU

How goverments are using facial recognition to crack down on protesters Mass protests used to offer a degree of safety in numbers. #FacialRecognition #technology changes the equation. "But while authorities generally pitch facial recognition as a tool to capture terrorists or wanted murderers, the technology has also emerged as a critical instrument in a very particular context: punishing protesters. (...) In countries where demonstrating can come with physical or political risk, large-scale protests have historically offered a degree of anonymity, and, with it, a level of protection. Mass protests are a way for citizens to express dissent as a collective — often under the assumption that “they can’t arrest us all.” But in the last decade, the spread of facial recognition technology has changed that equation: A lone face in a crowd is no longer anonymous; facial recognition allows #authorities to capture people’s identities en masse." https://restofworld.org/2024/facial-recognition-government-protest-surveillance/ #surveillance #Protest #Repression

“To be GOVERNED is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, . . .” ‚Thus begins Pierre-Joseph Proudhon’s famous quote defining the function of the political state. The surveillance states already in formation in Britain and the U.S. are nothing new. Only its technology and its capacity for totality. But this is a key consideration. No more escaping across the county line or hiding out in the hills. Everywhere and anywhere today is a social panopticon.  In earlier times of political opposition to the rulers, the names of rebels would be written in ink in a large ledger and later, on 3X5 cards, following reports from observers, undercover agents, and provocateurs. This was often sufficient to keep track of those who threatened the rule of capital and the state. Enough to often fill prisons and dungeons with those who refused their duty as loyal servants of the system.‘ https://freedomnews.org.uk/2026/04/26/files-on-the-fifth-estate/ https://www.fifthestate.org/ #FifthEstate #Surveillance #FBI #Technology #Repression #State #UK #USA #Europe #Antireport
