ActivityPub developer guide is available on Codeberg Pages:

https://ap-next.codeberg.page/ap-next/guide.html

I did that mainly to experiment with the stack:

  • Marmite, a static site generator written in Rust. Not perfect, but it’s the only one that just worked and didn’t make me change the directory layout or add extra information to markdown files.
  • New Codeberg Pages service, which uses git-pages instead of the deprecated pages-server.
  • Forgejo Actions, which came out of beta recently. Unlike Woodpecker CI, actions didn’t require extra configuration steps. Deployment from an action to Codeberg Pages is very easy: https://docs.codeberg.org/codeberg-pages/forgejo-actions/

anyone using #Astro SSG in combination with #forgejo pages and a CMS? I am just wondering which #CMS to drop into the mix. In theory any headless / SaaS could do the job, but I would prefer not having to host/maintain another service 🤔

To the folks running #forgejo: How are you running your runners safely? I don’t want to run them on docker on a shared system in case some npm script breaks out, but spinning up an entire VM seems like a lot of work. Share your experiences please 🙏 cc @forgejo@floss.social

The Dutch government has soft-launched code.overheid.nl, a government-wide open-source code platform built on Forgejo. 🇳🇱 This is a massive win for digital sovereignty, proving that large public institutions can successfully deploy sovereign infrastructure and move away from proprietary GitHub or GitLab lock-in. https://www.nldigitalgovernment.nl/news/soft-launch-for-government-open-source-code-platform/ #forgejo #opensource #digitalsovereignty

New blog post: Speeding Up Forgejo CI with a Custom OCI Image My blog's pipeline spent more time installing dependencies than actually building the site. Two commits and one Containerfile later, that step is gone entirely. Bonus: Forgejo ships with a built-in OCI container registry, so the whole thing is self-contained on a single instance. No Docker Hub, no external registry. https://blog.hofstede.it/speeding-up-forgejo-ci-with-a-custom-oci-image/ #Forgejo #CICD #Containers #DevOps #SelfHosting #OCI #linux

Gentoo moves too! In recent days, weeks, months, the fallout hasn't even begun - Microsoft is still weathering the blast itself. Even in the last couple of days viral videos are racking up millions of views covering what many people are hailing as the demise of Microsoft itself - to be certain, no one is shedding any tears. The first two defectors? HP and Samsung (PCs and Androids). Samsung removed preinstalled Microsoft apps from their devices and now other Android manufacturers are following suit. When you go to purchase an HP laptop now it comes with Linux by default (or you can, upon request, pay more for a Microsoft operating system). Following suit were Dell (same thing, Linux by default or your can request Windows 11 and pay more money for it), then Lenovo, ASUS, and Acer - pretty much everyone that matters has abandoned Microsoft. Even the retailers are bugging out - Best Buy, Walmart, and even Amazon are jumping ship, and I don't even need to explain why, but again, you can pay more to be subjected to invasive privacy mining. CoPilot and Recall may be the straws that broke the behemoth's back. And the shockwaves of ever larger concentric circles have found their way to Gentoo, the latest prominent project to begin the migration to CodeBerg according to Linux Journal. Adherence to the values of privacy and open source are cited, and Codeberg champions those values, themselves having moved to a hosted git software project that values those principles - Forgejo. There's a huge paradigmatic shift occurring with respect to how people view their privacy, and especially their identities and intellectual property. They've had enough of the dismissive subjugation and are realizing they can do much better, faster, with more privacy, and without tracking or malware pre-installed in their systems, for much less money. It will be interesting to see how the Redmond Dreadnought manages to maneuver this time; have they even the use of their rudder to persuade all of the major manufacturers of Android devices, desktop and laptop PCs to come back from the pasture into the slaughterhouse? #tallship #Gentoo #Codeberg #Forgejo #FOSS #Privacy

With all the people moving from #shithub to #codeberg I really get the feeling of "Lets jump from one Silo into another". Arguably a much better Silo, but a Silo still. It really is time for #forgejo to get federation abilities. Because the majority won't go to #sourcehut and (the proper) email based development scheme unfortunately. Or #radicle to succeeds. But I don't see this happen just yet unfortunately although it is really good already.
