hey so. looking for a job (NZ or fully remote willing to hire a kiwi) in SRE, security, or linux/Unix system administration. 15 years experience administering Linux and Unix boxes, intermediate level of experience working with docker compose and containerisation and container security. No prior job experience unfortunately, all those 15 years were mostly personal projects and small-scale stuff for friends. I'm also 26, so I started when I was 11, explaining the no jobs so far. Currently running an entire multi-machine personal cloud infrastructure with a demonstration of all the services I have running at https://status.highenergymagic.net Three machines, 72 docker containers. One running most of them, one running Mastodon+glitchsocial, one running the uptime monitor. encrypted root on ZFS, alpine linux, gVisor on supported containers, plan to move to Kata. Entirely willing to accept entry-level job placements, no expectation of being paid a lot or anything, just want to be doing something and move the needle a little on my current "being broke" status. Tonight's fun was trying to speed up #perplexica on a local homelab install with ollama, I run it on a mac mini m4, 16gb so am limited in models I can use, however 3 minutes to tell me how to make a pizza across multiple models seemed slow..
It was, same question, same #ollama, same models on #AnythingLLM 15 seconds..
I have ended up keeping the #searxng install which was quick and works well.
Tomorrow I want to work out more about anything llm and RAG and the any cli that it has, as if I can do what I need to using that, I might move over from warp.dev to tabby with any cli..
Lets see..
Also seems like #lens has added more agentic on its #kubernetes app, interested to see what that might do
Also might move from #docker to #podman and spin up a local 3 node k8s cluster on the laptop too. That would be good to test my latest vibe app out

Nerderei der letzten Woche: #immich
Ich war auf der Suche nach einem Foto, was ich mal in den letzten 10 Jahren mit dem Handy geschossen hatte. Bisher habe ich alle Fotos ordentlich quartalsweise auf dem Gerät und dem NAS, sowie in der Cloud abgelegt und alles immer im Zugriff, aber ohne Chance dieses eine Foto schnell unter tausenden zu finden. Ich hatte zuviel Zeit und die #linux VM mit #docker war schnell aufgesetzt.
Fazit: Ich bin total begeistert was das Tool alles kann. Nichts überlebenswichtiges, aber an den Geo Informationen und der Timeline habe ich ja echt Spaß. Das hat mir noch mal einen ganz neuen Blick in die Fotosammlung beschert. Darf nun weiter laufen und das #homelab hat eine #vm mehr, die gepflegt werden möchte...
