Denmark, a flop of the anti-Trump champion, the king asks the right to form the government. Denmark is now looking to the right. Following Mette Frederiksen, the anti-Trump champion who led the battle for Greenland, failing to form a government coalition, King Frederik X has asked Troels Lund Poulsen, leader of the ultraconservative Venstre party, to assemble a new executive. The announcement shook the political establishment, given that Frederiksen had been a prominent figure in Danish politics for decades. Her left-wing Social Democrats won the relative majority of votes in the March parliamentary elections. But she lost support, recording the worst electoral result since 1903 and no party actually won a majority. Since then, Frederiksen has sought to form a left-wing government with the support of the center-right moderates of Lars Løkke Rasmussen. He is considered the balance of power thanks to an intermediate position between Frederiksen and Troels Lund Poulsen. But the “broad Danish front” project failed to convince. On Friday evening, Rasmussen, a powerful former Foreign Minister, abandoned negotiations promising support to Poulsen. The monarch has thus asked him to “lead the negotiations in order to form a government,” without the participation of the Social Democrats and the moderates. In recent years, Danish politics has increasingly shifted to the right and the March elections saw an increase in votes for conservative parties. Immigration has become a central theme and even left-wing parties have adopted more restrictive policies regarding the control of foreign workers entering the country. #Denmark #MetteFrederiksen #Greenland #TroelsLundPoulsen #Venstre #Frederiksen #Danish #SocialDemocrats #LarsLøkkeRasmussen #Rasmussen #Poulsen https://www.iltempo.it/esteri/2026/05/10/news/danimarca-flop-della-paladina-anti-trump-il-re-chiede-alla-destra-di-formare-un-nuovo-governo-47659542/

The young basking shark stranded in Germany is being returned to the open sea. A giant whale was released into the open ocean for which billionaires and influencers had mobilized after it had become stranded in shallow waters off the German coast. Although experts say the chances of survival are slim, the whale, who has become a celebrity on social media, was transported on a water-filled barge in the North Sea off Denmark, where it was released. The calf, 10 meters long, exited the barge on its own and was then seen expelling water through its blowhole and swimming freely “in the right direction,” said Karin Walter-Mommert, a member of the rescue team. Criticism from International Experts The rescue attempt was criticized by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) as “unadvisable” because the whale appeared “severely compromised.” Experts from the Stralsund Oceanographic Museum, on the German Baltic coast, had also recommended letting it die in peace. The Condition of the Whale Lethargic and covered in blisters, injured by a fishing net, it had stranded itself on a sandbank in the Wismar bay, near the city of Lubecca, almost six weeks ago. As its health deteriorated, German authorities gave up trying to save it. The Role of the Media and Financiers However, after the story had aroused international interest, with television broadcasts and influencer posts on social media, the German authorities gave the go-ahead for a rescue plan funded by private individuals. The Recovery Operations The initial attempts to rescue the whale with inflatable cushions and pontoons were unsuccessful, but the divers eventually managed to help it climb onto a flooded barge, before the eyes of hundreds of spectators. A Rescue Funded by Millionaires The rescue was funded by two millionaires who said they were willing to pay “any amount” for the operation to succeed. #Germany #German #theNorthSea #Denmark #10meters #KarinWalter-Mommert #Baltic #theWismarbay #Lubecca https://www.agi.it/estero/news/2026-05-02/megattera-liberata-germania-36860617/

undefined | Here’s how Denmark compares to other countries as fuel prices rise and what role green energy plays by TheCopenhagenPost Fuel prices across Europe have surged since the escalation of the war in Iran, but the magnitude of the increase differs sharply from country to country. Denmark, while experiencing a smaller percentage jump than several of its neighbours, still finds itself among the continent’s most expensive markets for gasoline and diesel. The relative moderation in price growth has prompted analysts to examine whether the nation’s extensive green‑energy infrastructure is buffering consumers from the full impact of the crisis. For Danish commuters, the higher cost of petrol translates into noticeably deeper pockets. Drivers report needing to allocate a larger share of their household budgets to fuel, especially those who travel regularly between suburbs and the capital. Although the price rise is less steep than in places such as Italy or Spain, the absolute level of fuel costs remains high enough to affect everyday mobility, prompting a rise in interest for alternative transport modes and greater scrutiny of household expenses. The lingering question is how much Denmark’s investment in wind, solar and other renewable sources can shield its citizens from future oil‑price shocks. While the green‑energy mix does reduce overall dependence on imported fossil fuels, the country’s still‑significant reliance on road transport means that fuel price volatility continues to hit consumers. Policymakers are therefore weighing further incentives for electric vehicles, expanded public‑transport options, and additional renewable capacity to ensure that the green transition can serve as a more effective hedge against external market turbulence. 🇪🇺 #EU road deaths fell by 3% in 2025 to around 19,400, 580 fewer than in 2024, according to preliminary #European Commission data. The drop comes despite rising #traffic, but most countries remain off track to halve deaths by 2030. Progress varies widely: #Estonia and Greece recorded sharp declines, while #Belgium, #Bulgaria, #Denmark, #Poland and #Romania are currently on course to meet targets. Romania, Bulgaria and #Croatia still have among the highest fatality rates, while Sweden and Denmark remain the safest. Rural roads account for over half of deaths, with urban areas making up 38%. Vulnerable users, including pedestrians and cyclists, represent 70% of urban fatalities. Men account for 77% of deaths, with higher risks among younger and older people. Around 100,000 people are seriously injured annually. The EU says faster progress is needed to meet its ‘Vision Zero’ goal by 2050. https://transport.ec.europa.eu/news-events/news/eu-road-deaths-drop-3-2025-2026-03-24_en

@amplifyukraine.eu If Mr. Trump protects Greenland from Russian attacks as well as he protected this American factory in Ukraine then Greenland better stick with Denmark. Mr. Trump's frozen silence as putin destroys various American owned factories speaks rather eloquently of Mr. Trump's subservience. #Denmark #Ukraine

#Denmark social-democratic prime minister Mette Frederiksen recently made a statement that caused stir in some left-wing circles: “To those who have come here and commit crimes: you shouldn’t be here. We don’t want your reckless driving or your culture of dominance. You’re destroying the world’s most beautiful country.” There’s nothing “right-wing” or “fascist” in this statement. If you believe in equality of all citizens, rule of law and human rights which are fundamental set of left-wing values you can’t support someone who rejects the very idea of human rights, believes in fundamental inequality on gender or tribal grounds or that homosexuality should be punished by hanging only because “they come from another culture” and “they will change over time”. It’s quite the opposite, they won’t. If you don’t clearly signal rejection of these archaic values straight away, what happens it the archaic and oppressive culture is reinforced and gradually takes over. In short, you can’t bash fundamentalist Christians for patriarchy and oppression of women or LGBT, but at the same time pretend fundamentalist Muslim don’t share the very same archaic values. And the largest problem with any illegal immigration is that people who come to your country this way have zero formal obligation to share your country’s values or laws and you can’t really expect them to do so… because they arrived illegally. And I personally believe that those left-wing circles who in some bizarre logic adopted this cultural laissez-faire approach where all cultures are somehow “equalt” even if they categorically openly reject any equality are largely responsible for the current rise of right-wing parties like AfD in Germany, MAGA in the US, National Front in France, Reform in the UK and “Konfederacja” in Poland. So what Frederiksen said is very refreshing as it signals a very clear return to simple universal moral values on which the European society was built and rejection of this weird double-morality where the most oppressive cultures are treated somehow preferentially simply because they come from oppressive countries.
