Famuły, czyli można powiedzieć - familoki na sterydach. Zbudowane na przełomie XIX i XX wieku na potrzeby robotników fabryki Izraela Poznańskiego (dzisiejszej Manufaktury).
Idea budowy osiedli dla robotników wielkich zakładów, położonych bezpośrednio obok nich, była w tamtych czasach w modzie. Poznański zgapił pomysł od swojego głównego konkurenta - Karola Scheiblera, który wtedy mógł się już pochwalić własnym osiedlem na Księżym Młynie.
Jednak zakłady Scheiblera były podówczas praktycznie pod miastem i architekci mogli je zaplanować, jak chcieli. Poznański za to miał działki, ale w samym centrum, już wtedy gęsto zabudowanym. Nie mogąc budować wszerz, projektanci poszli w górę. Powstały 3 kompleksy mieszkań, po ok. 150 lokali każdy, stylowo dopasowanych do architektury fabryki po drugiej stronie ulicy.
Wizualnie było nieźle - ale standardem famuły odstawały od konkurencji. Znakomita większość mieszkań miała 1 pokój, kuchnię i spiżarnię, ze wspólnymi toaletami. Warunki były dość skromne, jednak patrząc przez pryzmat czasu - powiedzmy że średniej klasy, bo pojawił się jeszcze fabrykant nazwiskiem Kunitzer, który dla swoich robotników odwalił taką patodeweloperkę, że mózg stawał w poprzek (jego osiedle, na szczęście, nie zachowało się do dziś).
Obecnie famuły Poznańskiego są obiektem rewitalizacji - ma zdjęciu pierwsza (prawie) ukończona. Ślodz #architektura #architecture #industrial

W polskim krajobrazie wszędzie czają się duchy przeszłości. Zwykle ubrane są w modernistyczną architekturę. Pogardzane, zaniedbane, albo co gorsza upiększane na bezgustną modłę. Często są to wciąż czynne ośrodki wypoczynkowe, tak jak ten w Skarżysku-Kamiennej. Ich rozpiż w wielu budzi obrzydzenie. A we mnie głównie nostalgię i jakąś dziwną tęsknotę za przyszłością, która miała nastać, ale nigdy nie nadeszła.

I spent a day in King's Lynn last month, This is the Custom House - built by Henry Bell in 1683 as a merchants' exchange. The building was used as a customs house from the 18th century until 1989.
