The Westport Observatory, run by the volunteers of the Westport Astronomical Society brings the night sky down to the thousands who visit annually. We’re a non-profit that’s free and open to the public every Wednesday night from 8-10 pm if the skies are clear. We do suggest a donation of $5 per person if you're not a member. 3 years ago, in January 2023, I captured this beauty, the comet C/2022 E3.
C/2022 E3 (ZTF) follows a highly elliptical orbit with a period of approximately 50,000 years. It reached its perihelion on January 12, 2023, at a distance of 1.1 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun.
