This is a hard one for me to catch, but I got lucky last month and was able to capture more data that I combined with some data from May 2025. Rho Ophiuchi is one of my favorite nebulae. It’s so colorful in broadband; no filters necessary. I wish it wasn’t so close to the horizon for me. #astronomy #astrophotography

My new dream team is finally complete. The Harmonic Drive Mount Warpastron WD-20P paired with the Berlebach Astro Tripod UNI 18. Let the games begin — now all we need are clear skies. #astrophotography #stargazing #deepsky #astronomy #nightsky

So many satellites in this stack totaling only 5 minutes of exposure!!! Glad that the comet was bright enough to show up here. #astrophotography

Looking at a galaxy 50 million light-years away through your telescope, every human worry shrinks to nothing. Deep-sky imaging doesn't just capture beauty; it confronts you with an universe utterly indifferent to your ambitions. #astrophotography #cosmicperspective #space

I really should get back into #astrophotography this year. Last year was marred by both bad weather and brainfog. Here's an image from 2024.

Messier 3. A globular cluster containing about 500,000 stars. It doesn’t have a cool “common name” and I find that sad. That means we get to name it, right? I propose Globby McGlobface. Submissions are open until May 8th. I’ll publish the best one in my very unscientific journal. 📷 Sony a7 IV, Z61 II, 2 hours. #Astrophotography #Space #Astronomy 🔭

Hubble vs. My Backyard's Scope! First of all, happy B'day Hubble Space Telescope! Still the OG space-based telescope that changed our perspective of the Universe. For the B'day, NASA/ESA released an image of a section of the Trifid Nebula (left). You can see a nodule from inside the nebula and a thin stellar jet formed by a young stellar object buried inside the cloud. That's about 0.75 light-years in length. On the right is my 1-hour photo from my backyard - and the jet appears there too! Unlike Hubble, my backyard rig only has a 20cm aperture and has a whole lot of atmosphere, as well as city lights, to deal with. So it is really neat to be able to get that level of detail in 1 hour of observing. See the original Hubble image here: https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/Hubble_turns_36_with_a_dazzling_Trifid_Nebula_portrait #TrifidNebula #Astrophotography #Science #Hubble #Astronomy #Astrodon

🇬🇧 A new comet is visible with the naked eye ! C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) is an Oort cloud comet which will reach perihelion (the closest distance) on the 19th, before going away forever. This morning, I loaded my backpack and set up to capture it. I wanted to see it rise next to the Bietschhorn (3 934). The comet is currently in the Pegasus constellation, just below 51 Pegasi, the first star known to host an exoplanet. If you have clear skies, you should definitely try to see it : It is bright, and will pass only once! It already shows a very long tail, more than 10° long. The image was taken with a 120-300 lens, set at 180mm. It is an ethical composite: I first captured the foreground with the tracking off (5 x 15s) and then turned the tracking on when the comet reached the desired position (120 x 15s). #Astrophotography #Comet #PanSTARRS

Last night was my first expedition to "the spot" of my astronomy club, with a fellow member. Everything went according to plan, except for one thing... They warned me about the occasional wild boar, but not about that 🤣 #astronomy #astrophotography

A golden sphere suspended in perfect silence. The full moon reminds us how small our everyday worries are compared to the vastness of the universe. A single point of light in the black sky – yet powerful enough to make the whole world pause. Sometimes all you have to do is look up. #FullMoon #MoonLovers #NightPhotography #Astrophotography

Do any followers or fellow #astrophotography people here operate an allsky camera? I have designed a heater + sensor board that might be interesting for you. Im currently programming the script for it and im wondering if there would be enough interest for ordering another batch. Included in the board is a 5w dewheater with pwm controll. An auxilary pwm output (for a fan) A lightning sensor A temp, humidity, airpressure sensor A light sensor A lightspectrum sensor A current sensor

3 years ago, in January 2023, I captured this beauty, the comet C/2022 E3. C/2022 E3 (ZTF) follows a highly elliptical orbit with a period of approximately 50,000 years. It reached its perihelion on January 12, 2023, at a distance of 1.1 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun. ▼ Vixen VC200L https://astrocamp.eu/en/c-2022-e3-ztf/ #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #deepsky #astroimaging #nightsky #clearsky #telescope #photography #space

IC 443 (Jellyfish Nebula)14 hours and 10 minutes of integration timeDual narrow-band filter for H-alpha and O-IIIProcessed using the foraxx palette - its closeish to the SHO palette but a little more "dynamic". it may not have been the best image for this palette, but i liked the way it combined the "natural" look of the nebula with the blues of the HOO palette. I played around with drizzling since my setup is technically undersampled (and also it can be better than regular debayering)I had a nasty halo around the bright star right above the nebula which I could not get rid of without resorting to clone-stamping it out - so that is the most "fake" part of the image. #astrophotography #DSO #nigger #rape #finance
