Mattarella to nurses: “Someone wants to downplay the Covid as little more than a flu and to forget your efforts” An ode to nurses and a condemnation of those who, even years later, try to “downplay it to little more than a mild influenza” the Covid, leading “to forgetting the often heroic efforts and the suffering of doctors and nurses.” This is what Sergio Mattarella wanted to honor the healthcare professionals on the occasion of the centennial of International Nurses’ Day. “The strong personal ethics of Christian solidarity that animated Nightingale had found expression on the battlefields before even in epidemics that manifested – said the President of the Republic – The trigger for the creation of international humanitarian law during conflicts was valuable and deserves today a far greater respect.” Mattarella then compared the actions “carried out by your colleagues in Gaza, where a fragile healthcare system has been demolished, destroyed, as has happened elsewhere” to “heroic gestures.” He then recalled the commitment during the Covid pandemic. “I particularly want to remember the decisive contribution and passionate dedication that distinguished you during the Covid pandemic, a dramatic, long-lasting emergency – that you lived through with immense sacrifices and with many victims – and that someone, forgetting the many deaths from those tragic days, would like to downplay it to little more than a mild influenza,” he said again, emphasizing the risk of “forgetting the often heroic – I repeat, heroic – efforts and the suffering of doctors and nurses, of all healthcare personnel.” “On this day, I rightfully reiterate the Republic’s gratitude for what you have done,” he added, also remembering the daily work of nurses who instill “trust, testify to precious humanity and solidarity alongside therapeutic treatments.” This article Mattarella to nurses: “Someone wants to downplay the Covid to little more than an influenza and to forget your efforts” comes from Il Fatto Quotidiano. #Mattarella #Covid #SergioMattarella #Christian #Nightingale #Republic #IlFattoQuotidiano https://www.ilfattoquotidiano.it/2026/05/12/mattarella-agli-infermieri-qualcuno-vuole-derubricare-il-covid-a-poco-piu-di-uninfluenza-e-a-dimenticare-i-vostri-sforzi/8383635/

"Sweet is the truth." #Kemet #AncientEgypt #Egyptian #Quotes In Ancient Egypt during the festival of #Thoth / #Djehuty in particular, people would enjoy figs and honey, offer up figs/honey, flowers, and other plants to the Gods, while blessing each other with the greeting "Sweet is the truth". Wreaths called 'wreaths of the true-of-voice' made of leaves and lotus flowers were also offered to those who passed on. I saw recently a pastor using "Sweet is the truth" (of the #Gospel / #God) in a #Christian sermon for #Easter, and it took me back immediately back to the festival of Djehuty (which under KO calendar will be August 23 this year I believe). It reminded me the differences in personal truths that are out there, but came with a very clear indication from the Gods to hold no distaste or malice against anyone for solely the reason of having a separate truth to my own. What is important is that we live true and harm none. If you are doing that? You are brethren to me, no matter the religion or belief system. May your truth be sweet. #blog #personal #thoughts
