One of the theories I explore addresses the question: why are these two Munster-Mórrígna found in seasonal *triples* celebrating #imbolc, #Bealtaine, and #Lughnasa, but not #Samhain? And the answer, I think, is that in these guises they represented stages of the Corn: Planting, Ripening, and Harvest. That leaves one season and one goddess, but we already have a good idea: the last sheaf of the corn was woven and kept respectfully for next year, and called the #Cailleach - the same name as the goddess of Winter. That seems to put the Mórrígan in the position of being the representation of the "Maturing/Ripening" stage of the Corn. Planting should be done by Bealtaine! Planting is Brighid's business! :)

Happy full moon / #imbolc (=midway point between Winter Solstice & Spring Equinox)! 🌝 Which always falls very close to my birthday as well. I made some new foil #embossing ornaments to celebrate. As a drink of the season, I recommend London Fog Latte: 1 teaspoon of earl gray tea + 1/2 teaspoon of lavender for one cup of hot water. Add vanilla flavored soy milk to taste.

That's January over and out, a month which many say seems to go on for ever. It will be interesting to see the total hours of sunlight recorded because it feels as though the weather for the start of 2026 can be summed up in one word – 'gloomy'. It started off it snowy fashion just days into the New Year, but by and large I am looking back on a month that has been gray, cold and wet. Now February is here and as someone explained to me a few days ago, the beginning of this month is marked by the ancient Celtic festival of 'Imbolc', which is associated with the goddess Brigid. 'Imbolc' marks the slow awakening of Mother Nature from the deepest depths of winter. #england #february #imbolc #nature #countryside #celtic #festival
