I've been interested in Framework's offerings, and have been exploring configurations. Their new announcements have made me painfully aware of their non "pro" offerings, like the non aluminum shells, or one piece keyboard and trackpad options. I've largely missed the early batches. Question for those in the know, how good are these standard parts? Are they still pretty solid or is it worth holding out for a later batch of the newer versions? #FrameworkLaptop #framework

As I've seen people confused about this. Yes, the chassis and the keyboard can support older standard Framework 13 non-pro. Quote: "Compatible with both the Framework Laptop 13 and Framework Laptop 13 Pro." https://frame.work/products/framework-laptop-13-pro-chassis-kit-graphite?v=FRANKK00A1 Register your interest, folks. If this is what you want. #Linux #Framework

The state of #Framework funding fascist DHH:

  • David Heinemeier Hansson is still a fascist. He is annoyingly part of various right-wing tech communities. He created a spin of Arch called Omarchy. Hyprland is the window manager for Omarchy.
  • Framework probably doesn’t support him directly. Previously, they sent him a laptop and praised Omarchy. They also sponsored DHH’s sour grapes Ruby on Rails conference last year. He made the conference after his keynote was cancelled at another one.
  • Framework sponsors Hyprland for 600 Euros a month.
  • DHH has not been banned from Hyprland and still files occasional bug reports.
  • Hyprland itself is yikes-adjacent. Some say it’s on an improvement trajectory regarding its politics.
  • Everyone posting in favor of DHH runs the fascist “I’m just a little guy” routine (see pic). Where you antagonize entire ethnic groups and say they are subhuman (e.g. “low-average-IQ regions”) then say you got kicked out of Linux communities because of “petty politics”.

I hope that those cool black chassis and coloured keyboards will be available for the OG #framework 13 - I'll 100% swap them out!
