Yea no. I will not KYC myself on such an insecure platform that does not care about user safety amd recently even leaked user ID's in a breach of their zendesk support form. No thanks.

oof, #Discord is blocking VPNs a bit more now. I just received the generic "this message could not be delivered, click here for possible reasons" because I was connected to a VPN.
I had to drop the VPN to respond to my friend.

The signup workflow for my Matrix instance is giving even my more technically adept friends issues. I shouldn’t have to also host a wiki for people that work with technology to be able to use my instance.
That and the fact that Matrix was born out of the IDF have just soured me on the whole thing.
I’m probably going to scrap it and give Fluxer a try next.

The Discord account of a friend of mine got stolen by someone linking them a "space game." Apparently that game, when downloaded will take over your Discord account.
So as usual, don't download random things. But just wanted to share this in case anyone else encounters it.

Anyone else on #Discord seeing this "network error" message when connected to a VPN?
I'm seeing this on some VPN servers, whilst not on others.
In the past, they've semi-blocked VPN connections such that I could connect to Discord, but could not retrieve messages in neither DMs nor servers. But, now I'm seeing this when connected to certain VPN servers.
Seeing this message when connected to a VPN is new for me as of today.

Tonight’s Spaces status:
- Numerous stability fixes ✅
- Notifications are properly working ✅
- Admins can set admin/member role to user users ✅
There is still some notifications feature to be done… and stability improvement and I think I’ll be good to merge a first preview of the Spaces in Movim 👀 Interested to try it out ?
I repeat that everything done so far works on a standard #ejabberd #XMPP server without any specific hack. It is just very basic MUC + Pubsub XMPP put together so it should work “out of the box” (minor a small config to declare where the Spaces are created) to work ✨

I’m an admin on a pretty large and very active Discord server but we’ve spent the weekend getting a new self hosted Matrix instance setup.
Things are mostly working so far. Having some issues with device registration on mobile and user sync ATM but signups are working and the bones of the services seem to be all functional.
I’ll be getting our server sync scripts running this week to start syncing the Discord and Matrix instances to fully pave the migration path. We plan on likely shutting the Discord down at the end of March if everything goes well.
