So I've now got another pro-Israel neighbor to watch out for. He asked me what had happened yesterday that I needed the police for, and I told him that I was attacked for wearing a keffiyeh. He shut down and turned away saying, "Well that's just what it is", suggesting that I got what I should for the way I'm dressed. Then he decided to turn back and berate me about my keffiyeh, first asking (without accepting any answers) why I wear it. I said because I stand with Palestine and against war, and believe that our government needs to be anti-war. At least, that's what I started to say, but I barely got a few words out before he cut me off. He scoffed at this and told me that I'm not anti-war because people aren't dying in the middle east, they're dying everywhere but Palestine, and that way more people have been killed in Nigeria than the middle east, making the same claims of 100,000 Christians in 16 years as Donald Trump made (I'll go into debunking this claim later, to have a healthy discussion with you guys since I wasn't allowed to talk with him). Then he went on to say that I can't be anti-war because I don't have Nigerian flags all over my property, or Sudan flags, and I let him rattle on but had to draw the line when he said, "or what about Ukraine?" Everybody knows I stand steadfast for Ukraine and that my wife is Ukrainian. This absolutely RIDICULOUS notion that you can't be anti-war if you stand for Palestine because other wars exist in the world is rooted in the same ideology that you can't say Black Lives Matter unless you hate White people, or you can't stand for queer rights unless you hate Christians and straight people. Then they say, "No, Black lives don't matter! White lives matter! Blue lives matter! All lives matter!" because encompassing all lives means only the status quo and omits the oppressed. Then he said, "You know that I'm Jewish" in a threatening way like that makes me his mortal enemy. I told him, "So what? That doesn't make me your enemy, and many Jews I know are also pro-Palestine and anti-war." At least, that's what I started to say but only got a few words in again. At least I managed the "so what?" part before I got cut off again, lol. But I promised I would delve deeper into the Nigerian genocide issue. The number of Nigerians facing genocide for their beliefs is staggering. Ignoring the debunked numbers that Trump used, echoed by my neighbor, Genocidewatch has much more legitimate numbers and cites 75,000 in 13 years by Jihadist extremists, which includes 45,000 Christians and 30,000 Muslims (the Muslims are the ones who are always omitted by right-wing sources, or just lumped in with the number labeled "Christians"). But that's over 13 years, in a country with 50x the population of Gaza, that gains approximately the population of Gaza (~2 million) every year. Meanwhile, the most absoultely rock-bottom undercounted numbers (since most bodies are buried under rubble) for death toll in Gaza in just over 2 years since the end of 2023, is over 75,000. The difference in scale is staggering. Now let's look at Ukraine. Many who stand against the invasion of Palestine stand against the invasion of Ukraine, for the same reasons. Did Ukraine fall out of the limelight though? N ot really, though they have been overshadowed by greater atrocities. This is not because we don't like to talk about white people dying, or that we only talk about Palestine because we're antisemitic Jew haters, as some claim. Nobody has forgotten Ukraine, but unlike Palestine the world says that Ukraine has the right to defend themselves. The same world leaders say that Palestine has no right to defend themselves. Meanwhile, in the first 2 months of killing in Palestine there were more people killed than in the entire first year in Ukraine since Putin invaded Kyiv in 2022. That is, again, a staggering difference in scale. To a people who cannot defend themselves in any way whatsoever, and are already under full occupation, where their oppressor who is bombing them can also shut off their power and water. So why the fuck would I not stand for Palestine, when I also stand for Ukraine, or anybody else murdered in oppression? That accusation is so beyond ridiculous to believe, that anybody would be so brainwashed to make it. Those who stand against war and genocide always stand for all. While only those who support HATE of one particular group believe that solidariry is exclusive, not inclusive. #hate #racism #HateSpeech #abpoli #cdnpoli #inclusion

The RCMP are now investigating, though I’m not particularly optimistic that there will be any real accountability. What stands out is that Elections Alberta’s press release—at least from what I can tell—doesn’t mention the source of the complaint at all. By contrast, the RCMP have been quite direct in identifying the ANDP as the complainant. What it means, I don’t know. Possibly nothing—I just found it interesting 🤔 #ABPoli #CDNPoli https://thecanadian.social/@Luchador/116495655597639413

If Alberta separatists are upset about decades of equal federal income tax funding a significant fraction of the provincial equalization program causing billions of dollars to leave the province, just wait until they find out about what capitalism does with oil revenue! #abpoli

"Kevin O’Leary’s massive data centre and gas plant planned in northwestern Alberta .. gas-fired power plant will generate roughly the amount of energy used by eight million households in a year, or 15 cities the size of Calgary, setting the province back about 20 years in its emissions reduction efforts.. Unfortunately we ARE going back to this, in Alberta. The whole point of book banning is to reduce exposure to diversity, especially to the most easily influenced. Who do you think benefits from that? Exposure to diverse views and experiences allows children to develop empathy, shielding them from control through reactionary hate speech, divisive politics, and disinformation. #abpoli #cdnpoli #books #censorship #Hate #HateSpeech #diversity #dei #inclusion

RE: https://flipboard.com/@cbcnews/edmonton-5aq1688az/-/a-fs_rwp1xTguUrdROl8LX_A%3Aa%3A107108217-%2F0 Edmonton's police chief watched the israelis murder tens of thousands of people including thousands of children, and then warched the UN call it genocide and issue an arrest warrant for israeli leader netanyahu. Then the police chief decided to go to israel to get some training from the bloodlust israeli regime. Now he has ai and body cams on the residents and visitors of the Indigenous and NDP strong city. Oh yeah, the chief is also aligned with the traitor UCP. #Yeg #AbPoli

He claimed it wasn’t a project, even though the province has a page for it on their website calling it a “major project.” He criticized the news release as premature, even though he posted proudly about it on his LinkedIn, calling it a “validation” of the government’s data centre strategy. And he said there were no financial incentives being offered, even though the government promised 0% data centre tax levied on projects that bring their own power (which is the majority) compared to the small number of data centres connecting to the grid who have to pay the government levy. The minister gave a performance like no other at a recent town hall in Olds. I obtained a recording of the meeting and reported on it in my recent article for The Mix! https://www.theenergymix.com/common-sense-to-keep-10b-data-centre-1-4-gw-gas-plant-far-from-town-alberta-minister-says/ #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli #canpoli #AIdatacentres #environment #climate

'This week, Prime Minister Mark Carney was widely criticized for supporting Trump and Netanyahu's deadly attacks on Iran, which clearly violate the UN Charter's prohibition on the use of force. Since then, Carney and Foreign Minister Anand have struggled to explain their position and whether this contradicts international law. When Carney finally took questions at a press conference on Tuesday, he admitted that "it appears that these actions [the US-Israeli attacks] are inconsistent with international law," and called the war a "failure of the international order." He even said that Canada had supported it with "regret." However, he reaffirmed that it doesn't matter either way, because Canada continues to support the war regardless.'' This is an outrageous position for the Canadian government to take, and it is the furthest thing from a principled foreign policy. It is not acceptable for Canada to identify that a violation of international law is taking place and still choose to support it. Making things even worse, Carney has refused to "categorically rule out" the possibility of Canada's eventual military participation. Carney's incoherent position on Iran is clearly at odds with both international law and public opinion. There is no justification for defending this deadly war of aggression which has undermined peace and security throughout the entire region. Canadians do not want to join this illegal war of aggression, and we refuse to allow Carney to leave that door open. We need to continue to pressure this government to withdraw its support for these illegal attacks. In solidarity, Michael Bueckert, Vice President, CJPME' #cdnpoli #abpoli #iran #War

So the 197 immigrants who moved to Alberta last fall from outside the country are somehow too many and are taking jobs away from Albertans, yet Smith whined at Trudeau in 2024 that Alberta had not received the 14,000 immigrants and temporary workers that she had asked for. #abpoli #Alberta Danielle Smith's Referendum Question: Do you support the Government of Alberta taking increased control over immigration for the purposes of decreasing immigration to more sustainable levels, prioritizing economic migration and giving Albertans first priority on new employment opportunities?

@virtuous_sloth@cosocial.ca Seems like Albertans are going to have a long referendum ballot this year. The Lukiszik question will be on it; the separatist question will probably be on it; and now this, which will be a least one question. Perhaps Albertans will get sick of California-style democracy and realise that parliamentary democracy is as good as system of government as one can have. #abpoli

Alberta has a corrupt outfitter as environment minister, who has ordered all of the best wildlife mounts, that the public could formerly view at the environment department branches across the province, to be now displayed in the office of UCP ministers. One branch office in Edm that had beautiful mounts of endangered species quickly transferred the mounts to the Royal Alberta Museum so the corrupt outfitter minister couldn't get his prizes! More of this please. #PublicService #PublicServant #Resist #AbPoli #UCPtraitors
