Sure, I learned to code because I love cajoling a computer into doing what I ask it to. It's empowering. I think it also helped me learn to communicate better. Really, though, my favorite part of learning to code was helping my classmates learn to code. It never gets old. I approve followers cuz I'm the only me.

The Green Party of England & Wales' Workers Charter 2026 includes a rise in minimum wage to £15;
Business concerns that the original introduction of a MW would see mass lay-offs failed to materialise, but analysis of UK's MW often suggests this is partly as it is quite low;
so the Q. is would raising it finally prompt MW-related unemployment, or would it raise pressure to increase productivity & skill enhancement?
It would be an interesting economic experiment!

I agree with Teachers that education has become too obsessed with exams (including universities where exams are uses to combat the corrosive use of AI), not least as it results in an anti-humanist education, but blaming schools for not preparing young people for work (and rise in economic inactivity among the young), approaches victim blaming;
the problem reflects the UK's low-wage economy, where workers are seen as a cost & not invested in.

The Dutch have been quietly getting on with normalising the four day working week, and it seems to not have had the negative impact many critics have claimed, with the Netherlands' economy still one of the most successful in the EU;
as so often, real political economic change can be organic rather than forced, and in the UK while at an early stage of this process, the four day working week is slowly but surely e becoming more widely adopted. Good!
