Ooh, just noticed something that I missed when I was crossing everything that Reform wouldn't make it to second place in the Scottish Parliament.
The Conservatives LOST more seats than Reform GAINED.
In 2021 Conservatives got 31 seats, and sat as the official opposition. Yesterday the two combined got 29.
I look forward to reading the many news articles about the (far too) slow decline of right wing political parties in Scotland.

The poll indicated that if a referendum were held tomorrow on a united Ireland in the EU, 59% in Ireland would vote in favour and 22% against, with 63% voting in favour in Northern Ireland and 29% against.

Since this is #trans day of visibility, it seems an appropriate moment to mention that I am standing for election to the Scottish Parliament on the Glasgow regional list for the @ScottishGreens@mastodon.scot.
Good luck to all the other trans and non-binary Greens who are standing across the country as part of our most diverse set of candidates yet. Given the encouraging polls and the state of competing parties, I am very hopeful that one or more of you will be making history in May.

3 months on & the Green Party has grown to 216k members. Not due to corporate funding, polluters or pandering to the racist press, but folk determined to put Hope back on the ballot box.
They’re on track to become the largest party in the U.K. by membership. Their peak before Zack Polanski was 63k members in 2015. The magnitude of the growth is groundbreaking. #greens #ukpol #scotpol #politics #uk #elections

All parties have a sludge who are desperate to become MPs - at whatever the cost and bugger any principles they might have held. Alba are no different. He has gone from SNP to Alba to Labour in search of a seat. Make sure voters know the about bar stewards lost ‘principles’. But he is a dody ‘businessman’ and that is al he cares about.
