It was unfortunately what would be termed today as "AI slop". If I remember correctly, most of #Data's attempts at art turned out to be some form of regurgitation, sometimes exceedingly boring.
He even noticed it in #Inheritance in his mom's playing of the violin, as evidence she was artificial.
The most damning version is #InTheory when he basically turns into a LLM chatbot to try to have a girlfriend.

My only criticism with #Gravity is they don't actually show young #Tuvok changing his mind about emotions. He just sorta of leaves the monastery and thanks the master, now dedicated to logic.
Admittedly it would have been tough to pull that off as the B plot, despite the skill of the actors.

Just started it, but I'd agree with that assessment. I think the biggest thing was making them clearly sub Saharan African as portrayed in 1947. It was just a weird choice, and feels like something that would've been done in TOS.
