Internet user since 1994. FreeBSD developer since 2003. Google Summer of Code student mentor. Every time someone connects to an IPv6 network with their iPhone, some of my code runs. Whilst I have been accused of being a researcher in Internet systems architecture, and hold a Ph.D to prove it, most of my work is usually professional practice (lots of hardcore Python & C/C++ networking code) & communication. @Quasit@kolektiva.social Saying the words #Marxism, #Communism or #Socialism to e.g. a #Googler is the intellectual equivalent of pouring salt on a slug. They literally can't handle it. I might not agree with all of it, but reading "The #Californian #Ideology " helped put what happened when the project I worked on in the 00s got #VC funding and #shitcanned after the #subprime #mortgage #crisis . A Chinese interest ended up with all the IP assets.

Code is a liability (not an asset). Tech bosses don't understand this. They think AI is great because it produces 10,000 times more code but that means it's producing 10,000 more liabilities. AI is the asbestos we're shoveling into the walls of our high-tech society:
