Crossroads is based on the legend surrounding blues musician, Robert Johnson. Johnson, whose recording career spanned less than a year, nevertheless had enormous influence on the development of the blues. According to the legend, Johnson, at the time a plantation worker, met the devil at a crossroads and entered into a Faustian plot to become a great blues player.
