So one random factoid is there’s a detective tagging along Inspector Fix played by Robert Newton, in his final film role.
A few years earlier, Newton played Long John Silver in the 1954 adaptation of Treasure Island. It was his exaggerated ‘West Country’ accent that popularised what we now think pirates sound like.
Wikipedia calls him the "patron saint" of the annual International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
