Welcome to today's thread - #CrossBorderRail 2026 Tour Day 32 - 5 May - Strasbourg - Rumelange - Kirchberg - Wiltz - Libramont - Bruxelles New borders: Rumelange 🇱🇺 - Ottange 🇫🇷 Benonchamps 🇧🇪 - Schimpach-Wampach 🇱🇺 A few dismantled lines at 🇱🇺 borders – to 🇫🇷 at Rumelange, then west of Wiltz towards 🇧🇪. And appropriately from Wiltz I will cycle through Bastogne, a town today without a railway station that is nevertheless rather famous for its bike race. SNCF Connect, it can *always* be worse than you imagine. I am on Interrail today but wondered how much Metz 🇫🇷 - Bettembourg 🇱🇺costs. SNCF Connect can’t tell me, TER Grand Est site can. SNCF is the operator. 🤷‍♂️ #CrossBorderRail

@jon@gruene.social I don't know much about your #CrossBorderRail project but while we're on the topic I'm wondering what you know about the old rumour -- in the EU bubble at least -- that the only reason there's no high speed rail between Brussels and Luxembourg is that Luxembourg blocks it lest real estate value in the city plummet

Welcome to today's thread - #CrossBorderRail 2026 Tour Day 30 - 3 May - Rimini - San Marino - Rimini New borders: Cerasolo Ausa 🇮🇹 - Rovereta 🇸🇲 (Former 950mm gauge) Borders already crossed: None The only European micro state I have not visited. Better late than never! And it used to have a railway, that was dismantled at the end of World War II. Apparently there are some vague plans to re-activate it. BTW these trains are called Rock because Trenitalia named its trains after music terms - there’s Jazz, Swing, Minuetto, Pop, Vivalto and Rock. But I think of 🪨 not 🎸when I see this design! #CrossBorderRail
