Greenan Castle, Ayr. The ruin of a 15th C tower house, stands on the site of a motte and bailey and promontory fort. Dark tales of family feuds and murder still resonate around this atmospheric cliff top ruin. #blackandwhitephotography #Ayrshire #SouthernScotland #History

Kirk Oswald, near Maybole in Ayrshire. Named after Oswald of Northumbria, who supposedly won a battle here during the 7th C. The church contains the baptismal font of Robert the Bruce. #blackandwhitephotography #Scotland #Ayrshire #SouthernScotland

Dunure Castle, Ayrshire. They say that sometimes, you can still hear the screams of Allan Stewart, the Commendator of Crossraguel Abbey, as he was being roasted alive here by the Earl of Cassillis in 1570. #blackandwhitephotography #Scotland #Ayrshire #SouthernScotland
