Okay sure Artist: Shriekback Album: Oil & Gold (1985) Song: Malaria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBg5SoHajoI I guess we doin' a different kind of prompt now? w/e There are many reasons that "Oil & Gold" is still top of my albums list after all these years, and one of them is the 1-2-3 punch that kicks off the album, kinetic songs propelled mostly by Dave Allen's basslines and Carl Marsh's near-shouted vocals. It's a close call between this one the the second track, "Everything That Rises But Converge". (I guess maybe "Fish Below The Ice" sinks to mere "menacing" levels.) I'm living in a neon house! When I ran my first half marathon (2010 or so), I was too close to the front of the pack and the gun went off and my iPod on shuffle starts me off with Julian Cope’s Out of My Mind on Dope and Speed.

I managed to keep pace for about 48 seconds longer than I otherwise could have, but had to slip to the side and fall back…

Hey it's  #alternateFridayMusic 🎉 with a cue of: What gets you energised? The songs of one of the worlds greatest song writers, Grant McLennan have energised my life since the late 80's. Grant died 20 years ago today. This is not his most energetic song but it is my favourite song that he crafted: The Go-Betweens  - Cattle and Cane https://youtu.be/HFf7Nat1Y1E For the music nerds, from the drummer, Lindy Morrison "Grant had written that song and [...] he wrote it in that time signature. It's a bar of five, then a bar of two, then a bar of four, so the phrase is eleven beats [...] but when you get to the chorus it goes to four-four.
