🇨🇭🚆 #Alstom and Transports publics de la région lausannoise (tl) have signed a €295m contract to modernise Lausanne’s m2 #metro. The project will introduce a new communications-based train control (CBTC) system and upgrade the existing train fleet. The train-centric signalling will allow closer train spacing, increasing frequency, capacity and reliability while reducing waiting times. Alongside this, #trains will undergo mid-life refurbishment in Villeneuve, including updated control systems, improved interiors and exterior refreshes, extending their lifespan. The upgrades aim to support rising passenger demand and ensure long-term performance. Works will be phased, with most installation carried out overnight to limit disruption.
